Indoorswomen - Episode 75 - Trilogies: Thrice As Nice

Trilogies! Join us as we talk about what makes a good trilogy, why some trilogies fail, and which trilogies are our favorites.

In this episode:

Meg has a message for Domhnall Gleeson, and Jen schools BuzzFeed.

We recast the leading roles for Fight Club and Titanic in a game of "Gender Swap."

Shazam! and Schitt’s Creek get our stamp of approval during random recommendations.

And more!

Indoorswomen - Episode 57 - OTP FTW

OTP = One True Pairing

Our shipper hearts have a lot of feels about fandom OTPs! Join us as we talk about some of our favorite fictional pairs: what sends us in search of fanfic, why we love two (or more) characters together, and who we'd start a ship war over.

We also play a game of "Gender Swap" as we recast Star Wars and James Bond.

Stay tuned to the end for our random recommendations: The Invitation and Switched at Birth.

Indoorswomen - Episode 51 - Basic Bitches

We can be basic, and that's okay!

In this episode, we tackle what it means to be a "basic bitch," how basicness applies to pop culture, and why we embrace popular media.

We also weigh in on the 2018 Oscar nominations. Who do we think will take home the Academy's little gold men?

Stay tuned to the end for our random recs: Dark and One Day at a Time.

Indoorswomen - Episode 49 - We Want to Believe

Just like Fox Mulder, we can't stop talking about aliens. ET, Xenomorphs, Vulcans, you name it.

Why are there so many aliens in pop culture? What are some of our favorite depictions of aliens? Which alien tropes could we live without?

(Disclaimer: We don't actually talk about the X-Files in this ep, oops!)

We also play a game of "Strength of Character," featuring two quippy ladies: Elizabeth Bennet and Buffy Summers.

And we wrap up by sharing our random recommendations: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Coco!

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers! The Indoorswomen open up the mailbag and tackle those hard-hitting questions. Like, what’s so great about pop culture anyway? How did we meet? And, are we a Hamilton or a Burr? We’ll get to even more questions in the upcoming Part II. Marry, Sex, Kill is also back by popular demand. Spoilers: One of us beds Gollum. Join us as we talk all things robot, droid, cyborg, and AI, from lovable WALL-E to the not-so-lovable T-800. Beep boop. Share your robo-thoughts with us on Twitter (@indoorswomen)! Today’s topic is:  What pop culture makes us cry? Whether it is joy, sadness, or excitement, what makes us a little misty? Spoiler: we have never cried. Ever. Ok, that’s a lie.

We list sad themes, specific moments, crying triggers, and Meg does extensive psychological research to justify being a giant crybaby. From the emotional manipulation of sad music and tense storylines, it basically all makes us blubber. Especially Tom Hanks. Damn that Tom Hanks. It’s the least sad podcast about crying ever! Plus, memes of the past!

Bonus: a discussion of that really long episode of Jimmy Kimmel: the Oscars! We chat about our excitement about Moonlight’s win, our horror over the mix-up, and our ambivalence about Jimmy Kimmel’s hosting.

Tune in next week for a discussion of the pop culture homework we gleefully assign each other at the end of this episode. It’s fun to make people do things.
