Indoorswomen - Episode 63 - Evil Goatee? Parallel Universe.

You guessed it. We’re talking about parallel universes in pop culture—alternate dimensions, bizarro worlds, multiverses, you name it. If there’s an evil goateed counterpart of a beloved character, we’ve got it covered. Fringe, Buffy, Futurama, and more!

Plus we fan cast adaptations for a couple of our favorite books (both Polish fantasy novels, coincidentally), and we share our random recommendations (Back and Movies with Mikey).

Stay tuned to the end for our off-the-cuff Fringe AU coffee shop fanfic (it's awesome, trust us).

Our awesome intro/outro music is "We Are Highscore" by Krackatoa.

Indoorswomen - Episode 59 - Beauty and the Bestiality?

We invited the hosts of our sister podcast, One Person's Trash Is Our Treasure (@optiot), to chat about the classic "beauty and the beast" trope.

What makes fictional interspecies romance so interesting? Who are some of our favorite couples? Was there ickiness lurking below the surface of The Shape of Water? Let's just say, things get hairy in this episode (and scaly, and alien, and... )

We also played a wild game of Marry, Sex, Kill and wrapped with random recommendations. This episode's recs are Hush, I'll Be Gone in the Dark, Tully, and Netflix's Lost in Space.

Our intro/outro music is "We Are Highscore" by Krackatoa.

Listen to Rachel and Jen on OPTIOT!

Indoorswomen - Episode 49 - We Want to Believe

Just like Fox Mulder, we can't stop talking about aliens. ET, Xenomorphs, Vulcans, you name it.

Why are there so many aliens in pop culture? What are some of our favorite depictions of aliens? Which alien tropes could we live without?

(Disclaimer: We don't actually talk about the X-Files in this ep, oops!)

We also play a game of "Strength of Character," featuring two quippy ladies: Elizabeth Bennet and Buffy Summers.

And we wrap up by sharing our random recommendations: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Coco!

Our intro/outro music is "We Are Highscore" by Krackatoa.

The thrilling conclusion to listener questions! (For now…We had too much fun to not do this again sometime.) Which adaptations deserve do-overs? Which TV shows could we have totally written better? What are our Enneagram types? Well, you’ll just have to listen to find out. Plus, we’ve got random recommendations re: railroads and romance. As always, our lovely intro/outro music is “We Are Highscore” by Krackatoa.

Indoorswomen - Episode 36 - Treat. Yo. Self. [With Pop Culture]

Today we are talking Pop Culture Comfort Food and Pop Culture Self Care. This is the pop culture that makes us feel good, it feeds the soul - the old favorites we turn to in times of stress or sickness. In other words, Treat. Yo. Self.

We delve into Disney (and Buffy) singalongs, books with creased covers and broken spines, period dramas like Downton Abbey, podcasts (of course), and other favorites.

Plus, random recs of recent HBO programming (Big Little Lies, anyone?) and the pocket cast app.

Special shoutouts to our awesome new friends in the podcast community including:

The One With Podcast (@JoshSolbach)

Sipping Sisters (@3SippingSisters)

High Expectations (@Highexpodcast)

Shipping Room (@ShippingRoomPod)

Give them a listen as well!

And, as always, our amazing intro/outro music is “We are Highscore” by Krackatoa.

Indoorswomen - Episode 35 - Yo Dawg, I Heard You Like Bottle Episodes

People still get the “Yo, Dawg” meme, right? Right?!

This episode kicks off our Women Who Stare at Tropes series. We’re talking bottle episodes this time around: Buffy, Doctor Who, Angel, Homicide: Life on the Street, Friends, and Sealab 2021, for starters.

Plus, we play a game of TV Tropes Roulette. It’s trope-tacular!

What’s your favorite bottle episode? Holler at us on Twitter @indoorswomen (or, you know, compose a polite tweet).

Rerun: Episode 4 - Great Adaptations (apologies to Dickens)

Enjoy our encore of Episode 4:

In this episode we explore modernized adaptations of great literature - both Shakespeare and Jane Austen - and alternative forms of communication and narrative. It’s way goofier than it sounds. Also, we paraphrase our segment title “Great Adaptations” from Dickens and then never mention him. Sorry, Dickens!

There is also a little bit of singing. Very little. Don’t worry about it.

As usual, our lovely intro/outro music is “We Are Highscore” by Krackatoa.

Indoorswomen will be back with all-new episodes in July, so stay tuned!
